Rosenblatt Recitals Announced

Rosenblatt Recitals have announced their 2016/17 season, featuring leading artists and rising stars, including Lise Davidsen. Making her series debut at Wigmore Hall on 9 May 2017, Lise’s recital features songs by Sibelius, Strauss, Grieg, and arias by Cherubini, Verdi, Giordano, Mascagni, Weber, and Wagner.

A week later, Lise will head to Glyndebourne to begin preparations for highly anticipated debut at Glyndebourne in the title role of Ariadne auf Naxos in Katharina Thoma’s production, opening on 25 June.

Glyndebourne 2017: Lise’s UK opera debut

Glyndebourne Festival’s 2017 programme was announced on Tuesday 3 May, and features Lise’s UK opera debut in the title role of Ariadne auf Naxos in Katharina Thoma’s production, opening on 25 June.

After her wins at the Operalia, Queen Sonja and Belvedere competitions, Lise has also been announced as an HSBC Aix en Provence Laureate, and the winner of the Gladsaxe Music Prize 2016 and the Statsoil Bursary Award. Other engagements next season include Agathe in a new production of Der Freischütz in Zurich, Four Last Songs at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Edo de Wart, Verdi’s Requiem in London with the Philharmonia and Edward Gardner, and Isabella Das Liebesverbot at Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires.

Full cast details of Glyndebourne Festival 2017 will be announced at a later date. Priority booking for the 2017 festival begins on 1 December, while public booking opens on 5 March 2017.

Company debut at Oper Frankfurt in the Ring Cycle

Lise makes her debut at Oper Frankfurt in the theatre’s upcoming Ring Cycle, beginning with the role of Freia in Das Rheingold on 5 May 2016. The cycle is conducted by Sebastian Weigle and directed by Vera Nemirova. Lise performs as Freia again on 1 July and also sings the Third Norn in Götterdämmerung on 16 May and 17 July.

Lise received universal acclaim last summer as the winner of Operalia and Queen Sonja competitions:

Next season Davidsen makes her house and role debut as Agathe in a new production of Der Freischutz at Opernhaus Zurich, performs Strauss Vier Laetzte Lieder at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Edo de Wart and makes her company debuts with Teatro Colon and Glyndebourne Festival Opera. In the future she makes major company debuts including at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Met, Wiener Staatsoper, Aix en Provence Festivals and Teatro Real, Madrid.

Season Highlights

2015 was a standout year for Lise Davidsen. She was crowned winner of both Operalia and the Queen Sonja competitions, taking home multiple prizes at each. She also won three prizes at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, won the Statoil Talent Scholarship and was named as 2015 HSBC Laureate of the Académie of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Highlights so far in the 15/16 season include Lise’s Bayerische Staatsoper debut as Ortlinde in Die Walküre, and her performance at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

In 2016, Lise will make her house debut at Oper Frankfurt for its Ring Cycle in summer 2016 where she will sing the role of Freia in Das Rheingold and the Third Norn in Götterdämmerung. More exciting performances to be announced very soon!

Winner of the Queen Sonja International Music Competition 2015!

Lise Davidsen secured another 1st Prize during the 2015 Queen Sonja International Music Competiton held in Oslo on the opera’s main stage Friday 21 August. 2nd prize went to Elsa Dreisig, soprano (France) and 3rd prize went to Yuriy Yurchuk, baritone (Croatia) Her Majesty Queen Sonja awarded the prizes.

Lise was also rewarded the prize for the best performance of Norwegian music and the Ingrid Bjoner Scholarship for the best Norwegian participant.

Winner of Operalia 2015!!!

On sunday the 19th of July Lise won the first prize for female singer in Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition which was hosted by The Royal Opera in London.

She also won the Birgit Nilsson Prize in addition to winning the Rolex-sponsored audience prize!
