2016/17 Season Preview

Lise begins an exciting new season in September, during which she makes a string of major debuts at houses across Europe.

Lise opens the opera season on 18 September with her role debut as Agathe in Der Freischütz at Zurich Opera House, her first appearance with the company. She also makes role debuts as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana with Norwegian National Opera in January 2017 and in the title role of Ariadne auf Naxos with the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra in March. She sings Ariadne again in July for her debut at Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

In concert, Lise joins Edward Gardner and the Philharmonia Orchestra to perform Verdi Requiem at the Royal Festival Hall, London, in November, followed by the AIDS Gala at the Deutsche Oper Berlin where she sings “Dich teure Halle” from Tannhäuser. She also sings Strauss Four Last Songs with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest in Utrecht and at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, in January, and gives a Rosenblatt Recital at London’s Wigmore Hall in May.

Rosenblatt Recitals Announced

Rosenblatt Recitals have announced their 2016/17 season, featuring leading artists and rising stars, including Lise Davidsen. Making her series debut at Wigmore Hall on 9 May 2017, Lise’s recital features songs by Sibelius, Strauss, Grieg, and arias by Cherubini, Verdi, Giordano, Mascagni, Weber, and Wagner.

A week later, Lise will head to Glyndebourne to begin preparations for highly anticipated debut at Glyndebourne in the title role of Ariadne auf Naxos in Katharina Thoma’s production, opening on 25 June.

Season Highlights

2015 was a standout year for Lise Davidsen. She was crowned winner of both Operalia and the Queen Sonja competitions, taking home multiple prizes at each. She also won three prizes at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, won the Statoil Talent Scholarship and was named as 2015 HSBC Laureate of the Académie of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Highlights so far in the 15/16 season include Lise’s Bayerische Staatsoper debut as Ortlinde in Die Walküre, and her performance at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

In 2016, Lise will make her house debut at Oper Frankfurt for its Ring Cycle in summer 2016 where she will sing the role of Freia in Das Rheingold and the Third Norn in Götterdämmerung. More exciting performances to be announced very soon!
